Dr. Roddy C. Sharp, DVM, is a respected and influential figure in Utah’s veterinary and equine communities. Known for his extensive surgical experience and decades of compassionate care, Dr. Sharp helped shape the standards of modern animal treatment in Salt Lake City and beyond.
Dr. Sharp served as the President and lead veterinarian at Brickyard Animal Hospital, a full-service veterinary clinic established in 1950 and located at 1213 E 3300 S in Salt Lake City, Utah. Under his guidance, the clinic grew into one of the region’s most trusted pet care facilities, offering routine preventive care, dental and internal medicine, and surgical services. Brickyard Animal Hospital became a staple in the community not only for its advanced equipment and dedicated staff but for the deeply personal attention Dr. Sharp gave to both pets and their owners.
His veterinary license was originally issued in Colorado in 1975, and his subsequent decades of work in Utah are widely appreciated and remembered by generations of pet parents. He is also known as one of the few veterinarians in the region with certification in advanced surgical procedures, earning the trust and admiration of both peers and clients.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Sharp has been actively involved in Utah’s equine community. Alongside his wife, Marilyn, he hosted organized rides and events at their properties in Holden and Lake Point, Utah. These included the UFTHBA Easter Weekend Ride at their Holden ranch, the West Desert wild horse observation ride from their Lake Point property, and a scenic ride through the Capitol Reef region hosted in coordination with local horse associations. These events combined horsemanship, education, and camaraderie—offering participants a chance to ride Utah’s stunning landscapes while building bonds across the horse-loving community.
Even after retirement, Dr. Sharp’s name remains associated with integrity, expertise, and heartfelt animal care. Pet owners in Salt Lake City still speak of the care their animals received under his hands—care that often went above and beyond clinical expectation. He continues to be a trusted voice in Utah’s animal care landscape and a valued supporter of thoughtful and reliable pet service providers.
